Shrine of St. Anthony

Take in some time to reflect and relax at the Shrine of St. Anthony. This is an important space in the middle of the City of Ellicott City that features about 300 acres of park space. This is all surrounded by a classic Roman Catholic church building.

The shrine was built in 1930 in Ellicott City, Maryland. The building includes a main worship space that continues to be in full operation today. It also has a large grotto. Some of the property spaces around here date back to the eighteenth century although a majority of the spots that are out here date to the twentieth century.

Look for the large statue of Maximillian Kolbe, the Polish friar who died in place of another person at a German death camp during World War II. This is a statue that was blessed by Pope John Paul II during his visit to the church.

Walk along one of seven different trails in the region. These spots lead you to many spaces around the surrounding park area in Ellicott City, MD. Relax among the gardens and forests in the area. The region is very peaceful and has been carefully maintained by the church over the years.
